The Path to Brazil

In 2021, Raquel began translating a book about disciple-making movements into Portuguese. With support from the Brazilian Association of Transcultural Missions (AMTB), the book was published in 2022 and launched at Brazil’s largest missions conference. From the beginning, prayers rose up around the world for the unreached peoples of the Amazon.

Raquel shared the vision across Brazil, but few responded. Still, she felt led to pray for one man: A pastor named Luciano who had been crying out for revival and a return to the passion of the early church.

Raquel gave Luciano a copy of the book. At first, he dismissed it as just another strategy, but after reading the story, he realized this was exactly what he’d been praying for: a movement from God.

That moment sparked a new journey. Raquel and Luciano began praying, listening, and preparing. Shortly after, Luciano traveled to the Amazon to visit unreached people. The day he went, the government passed new restrictions on indigenous lands—another confirmation of God’s perfect timing.

Soon after, Luciano began collaborating with other like-minded disciple-makers, who trained the team. After a few months of laboring among unreached people groups, movements started to emerge.

There has been resistance. Their boat was damaged and is still under repair. But their faith hasn’t wavered. Within the coming months, they plan to return—this time to launch the first World Discipleship initiative in the Brazilian Amazon.

And doors keep opening. Three more communities have invited them in, including an entirely new people group. God is moving with urgency. And they are ready to follow.
