Faith and a Fountain

Ryan met a patient named Austin while working as a physical therapist. As they talked, a Bible verse tattoo led them into a deeper conversation about faith. Austin was a fellow believer, eager to serve God. He shared his desire to be like an angel, fighting demons in heaven.

Ryan told him, “I think angels wish they could be like us. We’re the ones who get to share the Gospel and change lives for eternity.” He invited Austin to join him in two days for evangelism on a local college campus.

They began starting Gospel conversations with students. After a few rejections, Ryan encouraged Austin not to get discouraged. “Jesus is our audience,” he said. “Someone God has prepared is waiting for us.”

Moments later, they met Josh.

Josh welcomed prayer and shared that three weeks earlier, he nearly died from a severe infection. One week ago, he suddenly lost interest in partying, drinking, and smoking. Instead, he felt a strong urge to read the Bible. He had devoured the book of Hebrews. Through tears, he proclaimed, “I’m living for Jesus.”

They got his number and met up again a few days later.

This time, Ryan brought his disciple and a new friend who was curious about disciple-making. Josh retold his story, and when Ryan asked about baptism, he said, “I missed my chance last weekend. I promised God I’d get baptized the next chance I get.”

Right then, Ryan pointed to the nearest water source: the university’s fountain.

That night, they baptized him.

The new friend, deeply moved, said, “This is one of the best days of my life.” And from that moment, Ryan began discipling both men, helping them walk in obedience and grow in their new faith.
