Michael met Jeff at a small grocery shop in Central Asia. Their conversation became long, and gradually it turned into a friendship. During one conversation, Michael mentioned his father’s health condition, that he had been ill for a long time. They had pursued many medical treatments, but there was no improvement. Not only that, they also visited local religious leaders and shrines, but nothing changed.
One day, Jeff said, “If you permit me, I would like to pray for your father. You have tried everything; now trust the living God once and ask from Him.” He came to their home and shared from the Bible, Luke 5:17-25, explaining how Jesus said to the man, “Your sins are forgiven,” and then healed him.
After hearing this passage, a new hope was born in Michael’s father’s heart. He himself said, “Pray for me as well. I believe that if He could heal that man, He can heal me too.” For nearly three days, Jeff and the family fasted and prayed together for him. During this time, Jeff encouraged them by reading and sharing verses from the Bible.
God performed a miracle in their home. According to Michael’s father, who had been ill and bedridden for many years, when he tried to stand up it felt as if he had been given a completely new life. As the days passed, Michael also prayed personally, and God healed him as well.
Michael told Jeff that he also wanted to learn more about this living God and receive teaching. Jeff baptized Michael and his family and taught them. Then came the time to start sharing with others what they had learned.
Jeff said to Michael, “I will prepare you so that in my absence, you can fulfill this responsibility, share with others what you have learned and continue fellowship with those who were already connected with me.” Now it is Michael’s responsibility to visit them, guide them, and teach God’s Word.
