“As the verses poured in, Amir’s heart awakened.”

When God Spoke My Name

Amir was raised in Bahrain in a devout, conservative Sunni Muslim family. Yet within him, questions stirred that he dared not speak aloud.

One day, driven by growing curiosity, Amir walked into a Catholic church. He looked around and saw statues everywhere. He asked the priest, “Why do you pray to these statues? They are not human. They can’t hear your prayers.”

The priest grew irritated. He asked Amir to leave.

Amir, undeterred, asked if he could at least stay and keep looking.

The priest reluctantly agreed.

Amir approached a statue marked “Jesus Christ.” He looked into its stone-carved eyes and whispered, “If you are really Jesus, speak to me. I want to know more about you.”

But nothing happened.

Amir left, unchanged. He returned to his old life.

Then one night, everything shifted.

He was at a bar when he ran into a girl he knew. She showed him a message on her phone—something her American friend had sent. It was a Bible verse.

Amir read it—and something clicked.

“Can you send that to me too?” he asked.

That night, he read it over and over. Then he heard a voice that cut through everything:

“Amir, I am the real God. That message? It was meant for you.”

Amir was stunned. He asked his friend for the American’s number. Amir reached out, and soon the two began speaking about Scripture. As the verses poured in, Amir’s heart awakened. And eventually, he surrendered.

He gave his life to Jesus Christ. He renounced his former religion. And he began to walk in the truth that once echoed silently through a stone statue—but now spoke clearly to his soul.
