Where Peace Took Root

For over a decade, Chris and his team have been ministering in Loja, Ecuador—a spiritually resistant region with little fruit for the Gospel. But recently, God began to stir hearts.

Years ago, Chris baptized a young man named Luis, who had joined their house church before leaving for Australia. Luis’ family—devout Roman Catholics—remained distant. His niece and nephew, Leo and Sofía, had occasionally been present during gatherings at Luis’ home, but never engaged.

Everything began to shift at Luis’ baptism. His whole family attended, and Chris had the opportunity to clearly explain the Gospel.

As time passed, Leo and Sofía began to reach out to their uncle in Australia for guidance. Both had experienced deep emotional wounds from growing up without a father. Leo, in particular, struggled with intense depression, anxiety, and loneliness. Their religious background hadn’t brought peace—so they started searching elsewhere.

Luis continued praying for them and eventually encouraged them to connect with Chris and the local house church. They began meeting together and studying the life of Jesus. Slowly, the walls came down. They felt welcome, accepted, and at peace.

A few days later, Leo reached out to Chris in distress. He had been overwhelmed with anxiety, sweating uncontrollably for two days, and even confessed to having suicidal thoughts in the past.

Chris met with him, prayed over him, and shared once again the message of Jesus’ love and healing power.

That day, Leo surrendered his life to Christ.

Chris encouraged him to share the news with his sister Sofía and invite her into the same transformation. The team continues to pray that she too will come to faith and that both siblings will be baptized soon.

After 11 years of spiritual labor, God is moving in Loja—and His light is breaking through the darkness.
